Search for a Qualification

Video Guide

Searching

In the Qualifications Search, you can quickly find a qualification based on any combination of Keywords, Types of Qualifications and / or QF Level for a Simple Search.

To go to Qualifications Search, you can either click the “Qualifications Search” button on the homepage, or click “Search” on the navigation bar and select “Qualifications”.

Then, fill in or select relevant information in one or more search field(s). Click next to the search field to open the pull-down menu for criteria selection.

Then, click “Search” to search for the relevant qualification(s) on the QR.

To re-start a new search, you may click “Reset” to reset all values in the search fields.

More search criteria are available in “Advanced Search”. You can select any combination of the following search criteria including those available in the Simple Search:

  • QR Registration No.
  • QF Credit
  • Types of Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT)
  • Area of Study and Training
  • Sub-area
  • Industry
  • Branch
  • Title of Learning Programme
  • Title of Qualification
  • Name of Granting Body
  • Country / Region of Granting Body
  • Name of Operator / Agency
  • Country / Region of Operator
  • Mode of Delivery
  • Operator / Agency Reference Code
  • Registration Status

Like Simple Search, you can fill in or select relevant information in one or more search field(s). Click next to the search field to open the pull-down menu for criteria selection.

Then, click “Search” to find qualification(s) meeting your criterion(a).

Points to note:

  • By default, “Registration Status” is set at “Current” and “Prospective”. To find an "Archived" record, you need to select the status as “Archived”.

  • Operators / assessment agencies are autonomous in assigning reference code for their qualifications. So, when using “Operator / Agency Reference Code” for search, the “Name of Operator / Agency” can be specified to get your desired record.

  • “Sub-area” and “Branch” are dependent on the area(s) of study and training and industry(ies) selected. Therefore, you have to select the area(s) of study and training or industry(ies) from the pull-down menu before you can select the respective sub-area(s) and branch(es).

  • When using “Mode of Delivery” for search, you can select “Not Applicable” for the search of recognition of prior learning (RPL) qualifications and professional qualifications (PQ).

You can simply enter any word(s) / phrase(s) in the “Keywords” search field, and the system will match the word(s) / phrase(s) you have entered with qualification / learning programme title, name of operator / granting body, area of study and training, sub-area, industry / branch, mode of delivery and quality assurance (QA) status of the QR records.

To search for records under the following QA Statuses, you may enter the keywords in the table below:

Types of QA Status

Keywords

Self-accrediting

  • “Self”*
  • “QA-Self”
  • “QA-Self-accredit”
  • “QA-Self-accrediting”

*Note: The qualification search using the keyword “Self” will also return qualifications with titles carrying the word “self”.

HKCAAVQ-accredited

  • “VQ”
  • “QA-VQ”
  • “QA-HKCAAVQ”
  • QA-HKCAAVQ-accredited”

Programme Area Accreditation (PAA) Status

  • “PAA”
  • “QA-PAA”
  • “QA-PAA status”
  • “QA-Programme Area Accreditation”
  • “QA-Programme Area Accreditation status”

When searching multiple keywords, the system will search records containing all the keywords by default; e.g. enter business management to search records containing both business and management, such as business management and business logistics management.

You can also use of the following logic and wildcards:

  • OR – either or both; e.g. enter business OR management to search records containing either business or management, or both, such as global business, property management, business management and business logistics management.

  • “ ” – exact phrase; e.g. enter “business management” to search records containing the exact phrase business management only, but will not retrieve records such as business logistics management.

  • * – to substitute any character(s) / word(s); e.g. enter business* to search records containing the word or phrase which begins with business, such as business analysis and business communication.
